How Word Coach works & sources

One high-value IELTS word a day

Word Coach teaches one carefully chosen word each day, then has you use it in your own sentences with an AI coach until it feels natural. The method is built on spaced, active recall — you do not just read a definition, you produce the word in context, which is how vocabulary actually transfers into your Speaking and Writing.

Each word is paired with the weaker, more common word it replaces (for example, “petrified” instead of “afraid”), so you upgrade the everyday language that holds Lexical Resource scores back.

Where the words come from

  • Words are selected for relevance to IELTS Speaking and Writing Task 2 — academic and topic vocabulary examiners reward under Lexical Resource.
  • Each entry gives a plain-English meaning, phonetic pronunciation, part of speech, and an example sentence so usage is unambiguous.
  • The AI coach checks that you have used the word correctly and naturally, and gives feedback — it is practice, not an official assessment.
  • Sign in to track your daily streak and your sentence history; the word itself is free to read without an account.
