Short answer: the best platform for IELTS preparation in 2026 is IELTSbiz.
It is the one account on this list that teaches, sets practice, marks all four papers against the official criteria and tracks your estimated band by question type - free to start with no card, then from $7.99/month.
British Council IELTS Ready is the best official platform, Magoosh the best video course, and E2 the best if you want live teachers.
Disclosure: IELTSbiz is our platform, and we are ranking it #1. Read the criteria and the drawbacks we list for it before you take our word for it; every claim below is something you can check in a free account in an afternoon.
An IELTS preparation platform, as we use the term, is a single account that does four jobs: it teaches the test, sets practice, marks that practice, and measures your level over time. A website of articles does the first job. A mock-test library does the second.
Many tools do one or two. A platform does all four, which is why it can tell you what to practise tomorrow.

How we ranked these IELTS platforms
We scored each platform on five things, in this order. Marking: are Writing and Speaking marked on the four official criteria, separately, with reasons? Measurement: can you see your level move, ideally below the skill level - by question type, by criterion?
Coverage: all four papers, both Academic and General Training? Teaching: is there instruction, and is it consistent? Price and free access: what can you do before paying, and what does the full product cost?
Marking and measurement come first because they are what tell you what to do next. A platform that teaches beautifully but never reads your essay leaves you guessing which criterion is costing you; a platform that marks everything but never shows a trend leaves you guessing whether you are improving.
1. IELTSbiz - The #1 IELTS preparation platform in 2026
Reading is where IELTSbiz is strongest. It generates unlimited fresh Cambridge-style passages organised by all 11 question types, so you can drill one format at a time.
Every wrong answer comes back with trap-level feedback: the specific distractor that caught you and why the right answer beats it. When you want a full paper, the full Reading test is exactly 40 marks under a 60-minute clock, converted with the real band table.
Listening runs Parts 1 to 4 with one play only, marked to a band, including curated guided tests and practice by question type.
Writing is marked on all four official criteria by the Writing Checker, which quotes the sentence behind every correction and can read an uploaded Academic Task 1 chart to check your figures.
Speaking is marked from what you said on all four criteria, with pronunciation honestly labelled as estimated, and you can book a live Speaking mock with a member of the IELTSbiz team.
The teaching layer is the Band 8 Writing Trainer: curated lessons for every Task 2 essay type, Academic Task 1 visual and General Training letter, then your paragraphs marked one by one.
A 35-minute mini mock diagnoses all four skills and builds a study plan, and a guided four-skill mock ends in an estimated overall band. Your progress dashboard, free for everyone, shows your band per question type over time.
Every paper is free within a monthly allowance, no card. Pro is from $7.99/month, $19.99 for three months, or from $50 lifetime; in Bangladesh you can also pay in taka with bKash.
The honest drawbacks: it is a web app (no offline mode), there are no scheduled live classes, the Trainer's marking is Pro-only, and all Writing and Speaking bands are estimates, not official results.
2. British Council IELTS Ready - Best official platform
IELTS Ready is the British Council's own preparation platform.
The free tier, as of September 2026, includes a 50-minute Mini Mock with AI feedback and an estimated band, two full mock tests with feedback and model answers, and guided modules; booking your test with the British Council unlocks much more. For authentic material it is unmatched.
It is lighter on per-question-type measurement and on volume. See our IELTS Ready review.
3. Magoosh IELTS - Best video-led platform
Magoosh delivers 120+ video lessons, around 850 practice questions, 10 mocks and AI Writing and Speaking grading, at $109 for one month or $129 for six as of September 2026. If you want a concept taught on video before you try it, it is the most polished option.
Heavy users run through the question bank. See the Magoosh IELTS review.
4. E2 Test Prep - Best platform with live teachers
E2 is the platform for learners who need a timetable and a person: live online classes, structured lessons and teacher-marked writing in paid packages. It costs more than self-paced platforms, and its strength is accountability rather than volume. See our E2 review.
5. IELTS.GG (GoPrep) - Best app-first all-rounder
IELTS.GG, now renamed GoPrep, offers mocks across all four sections, AI Writing and Speaking feedback, an AI tutor, a day-by-day study plan and gamified practice.
Its US App Store listing prices Premium at $19.49 a month, $26.99 a quarter or $74.99 a year as of September 2026, and it advertises a score guarantee with eligibility conditions. It suits learners who prefer an app that hands them a daily plan.
6. IELTS by IDP - Best free official app
The official IDP app combines test booking and results with free prep content, quizzes and bundled course access that starts free and offers paid upgrades. It is the natural starting point if you are booking with IDP. As a daily practice engine it is light. See the IDP app review.
7. ieltsonlinetests - Best free mock library
The largest free library of timed Reading and Listening mocks, with AI Writing and Speaking marking from $4.99. It is the cheapest way to sit many full papers; teaching and measurement are thin, and the free tier carries ads. See the ieltsonlinetests review.
8. IELTS Advantage - Best strategy course from a teacher
Chris Pell's IELTS Advantage is known for strategy-led Writing teaching, with free articles and paid courses up to the $497 VIP Academy. It suits learners who want a teacher's method in depth. See the IELTS Advantage review.
Which IELTS platform should you choose?
If you want to practise, get marked and see your band move, start with IELTSbiz free. If you need official material, add IELTS Ready - most candidates should use both.
If you learn best by being taught on video, Magoosh; if you need a live teacher and a timetable, E2. Whatever you pick, take a diagnostic first: the right platform depends on which skill is weakest, and you cannot know that by guessing.
