It will certainly change a lot of jobs, but I'm not convinced it'll simply replace them. Historically, new technology has destroyed some roles and created others that nobody could have predicted. Tasks that are repetitive, like data entry, are clearly at risk. But jobs that rely on human judgement, empathy or physical skill, such as nursing or plumbing, are much harder to automate. The bigger challenge, I suspect, will be retraining. People whose jobs disappear will need affordable ways to learn new skills at any stage of their lives.
