The book I'd like to talk about is a short non-fiction book about how habits are formed. I read it in my final year of school, when I was struggling to stay organised and kept leaving everything until the last minute. The main idea is surprisingly simple. Instead of relying on motivation, you design your environment so that good habits are easy and bad ones are inconvenient. For example, the author suggests putting your phone in another room while you work. It sounds obvious, but I'd never actually thought about it that way. I started applying a few of the ideas straight away, and within a couple of months my grades had improved noticeably. More importantly, it changed how I think about change itself. I no longer wait to feel motivated. I just make the first step as small as possible and get started.
